Birkinhead, Wirral – A project was commissioned by the Director of Regeneration and Place at Wirral County Council to perform the replacement of 2x school buildings at Bidston Avenue Primary School requiring new pitched roofs along with insulation.

The project was awarded to Mac Roofing and Contracting Ltd. and scheduled work was planned to take place over 16 weeks.

Roof replacement cost:

Mac Roofing and Contracting Ltd quoted £27,848.40 for professional fees, clerk of works, and CDM
Regulations and won the tender despite another 6 companies bidding for the job that included:

• Complete removal of the existing slate roof covering, battens & tearing;
• Clearance of all debris within the loft void area;
• Structural strengthening;
• Installation of 450mm thick quilt insulation to all void areas;
• Installation of breather membrane, battens & Metrotile Slate 900 tile roof covering system;
• Installation of new rainwater goods; and
• Repointing to chimney stacks & parapet walls
• with scaffolding, material supply and installation
